Take Some Time Out for Relaxation Day

In this modern age, there are plenty of ways for us to get stressed. Whether you’re taking care of a family, dedicated to your work, or simply faced with a busy lifestyle, make no mistake, no one is immune to the pressures of everyday life. You might dismiss small issues, but even the little things can pile up inside us. That’s why it’s so important to remember to take some time for yourself every now and then, and Relaxation Day on the 15th of August is the perfect opportunity for you to start.

Just as stress can be triggered by different things in different people, relaxation can take many forms depending on what you enjoy. Some of us are sedentary and find taking a load of our feet to be the best way to unwind, while others clear the mind by getting the body active in some way. No matter which category you fall into, we at Dibor think that there’s nothing better than spending time in nature to help you achieve a well-earned feeling of calm.

In our opinion, sunny August couldn’t be a better time of the year for Relaxation Day to fall. In fact, studies have shown that exposure to sunlight increases the brain’s release of serotonin – a hormone associated with boosting mood and helping us feel calm and focused.  So with all of this in mind, consider celebrating the event by getting outdoors.

Gardening is one of life’s simple pleasures. It keeps your hands busy and your thoughts directed into making things grow and creating a beautiful space that you can enjoy – no wonder many of us find it a great de-stressor. If pottering around outside is your happy place, you can also consider going further afield than your back yard. A walk in local woodlands gives you space to really think, collecting your thoughts and grounding your emotions in a quiet space which is worlds away from the hectic backdrop of reality.

Another way to escape from the hustle and bustle is to make yourself a peaceful oasis at home, where those of us who prefer to take things a little easier can relax in all the comfort of our familiar surroundings, but still reap the benefits of time spent outside. Take advantage of the lovely weather by bringing the feeling of your living room to your garden for the ultimate haven.

Outdoor sofas are specially designed to give your patio, lawn or decking a cosy feel, with deeply padded seats for you to sink into. A luxurious move away from metal benches, which you can make even more comfortable with added cushions. The addition of an alfresco coffee table allows you to relax with your favourite drink, whether on your own or spending quality time with your family.

Out in your little slice of heaven, you can read a book, play calming music, or simply just meditate – listening to the sound of the leaves whispering in the wind, birds singing in trees overhead, and taking in a re-vitalising scene of plants and flowers, colourful against the blue skies and puffy white clouds of summertime. When the evening finally draws in there’s no need to leave, just light a lantern for an ambient atmosphere and curl up in a blanket to keep you cosy through peaceful twilight breezes.
